Van driver safety the focus of new field service conference

Van driver safety is to be the focus of a new conference organised by Microlise on 4 November at the MIRA Proving Ground in Warwickshire.

Aimed at field service and van fleet managers, it will enable delegates to learn about new technologies, as well as techniques to improve road safety and reduce the environmental impact and operating costs of their fleets.

An opportunity to take to the MIRA City Course in an LCV (light commercial vehicle) with the latest telematics technology is available, the network of roads, traffic islands and controlled intersections replicating most urban driving environments.

Speakers from Sky, FTA Van Excellence, the DVSA and Central Motorway Police Group are confirmed to speak.

John Mills, head of workforce telematics at Microlise, said: “Vans are essential to the economy with one in 10 vehicles on the roads now an LCV. But van drivers often see driving as a secondary part of their job with the primary role often being the service which they are delivering to customers.”

He added: “There is scope for vast improvements to be made by engaging with drivers more effectively. With this event, we will cover the topic from multiple perspectives.”
