Jeff Screeton is the founder of 5PL (UK) Ltd, a company that has pioneered the integration of low/zero carbon first/last mile transport and marginal capacity on passenger trains to deliver highly efficient and cost effective logistics.

Since April 2011, cycle logistics and electric vehicles have worked seamlessly with rail using stations as cross-dock facilities for a large variety of consignment types and sizes offering customers a service that is fast, frequent, reliable, secure and cheaper than the road equivalent.

Rail based logistics of this type has significant potential to overcome a range of problems while opening up opportunities – from reducing town and city centre congestion and emissions, to offering a new dimension within the e-commerce environment and presenting new routes to market for SMEs.
