Dr Steve Summerskill is a Senior Lecturer at Loughborough University Design School. His research projects combine the skills of industrial design and ergonomics in the field of vehicle design. Recent research projects have involved the design of an Electric vehicle with Nissan and three projects in the identification of HGV blind spots with the Department for and Transport and TfL. The research projects performed use a mix of virtual and real world techniques. The research being presented at the Freight in the City event describes a project that has been recently completed with TfL under the CLOCS programme. This project has involved the modelling and quantification of blind spot size for the UKs top selling truck designs.
